Job Summary
Lead Teacher at Yellow Brick Road leads curriculum planning and implementation in a licensed child care setting, fostering a nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environment. Responsibilities include weekly play-based, age-appropriate lesson planning; observing and assessing child development; maintaining accurate progress documentation; managing a positive classroom culture; engaging with parents and families through the Parent Communication app; pursuing ongoing professional development; and collaborating with colleagues to share resources and best practices. The role requires Minnesota DHS qualifications for a Lead Teacher, CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days), ability to meet physical demands (lifting up to 65 lbs), and the ability to commute to the assigned Minnesota location. Starting pay ranges from $19 to $22 per hour, with a Monday–Friday schedule and comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Must meet Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) qualifications for a Lead Teacher in a licensed child care center
- Demonstrated experience working with young children in a licensed early childhood education setting
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job (standing/sitting for extended periods, lifting and carrying children and materials, bending, stooping, kneeling)
- Willingness to undergo background checks and meet state licensing requirements for working in a childcare setting
- Must be able to commute to the assigned school
- Must possess CPR/First Aid certification, or willing to obtain within 30 days of employment
- Must be able and willing to perform physically demanding work (lifting up to 65lbs)
- Must have initiative and a “can do!” attitude
- Must be able to regularly use technology (Microsoft Office, online lesson planning, daily reporting)
