Job Summary
Lead Teacher for the Great Start Readiness Program. Provide instruction using pre-kindergarten standards and the HighScope Curriculum, with ongoing assessment of students. Plan weekly lesson plans, engage with children throughout the day, and collaborate with the teaching team. Conduct home visits and parent–teacher conferences, record child assessment notes, and ensure compliance with licensing guidelines. Foster an inclusive classroom that supports equality for all children. Requires Michigan teaching certification and ECE endorsement OR a Bachelor's degree in child development/preschool-focused program; CPR/First Aid certification and background checks are required; experience with at-risk children and familiarity with HighScope/COR Advantage are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate and Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement OR Bachelor's degree in child development or early childhood development with specialization in preschool teaching
- Teaching experience with at-risk children preferred
- Trained in High Scope Curriculum, COR Advantage, preferred
- Have or be willing to obtain current CPR and First Aid Certification
- Must be able to obtain Michigan Child Care Licensing Background Check clearance, including fingerprinting
- Plan weekly lesson plans following HighScope Curriculum
- Engage with children in all areas and parts of the day
- Work collaboratively with teaching team
- Complete home visits and parent teacher conferences
- Record child assessment observation notes
- Follow all licensing guidelines
- Establish a diverse and inclusive classroom that fosters equality for all children regardless of gender, race, or developmental needs
