Job Summary
Lead assigned classroom by supervising, designing, and nurturing children in purposeful programming while cultivating positive relationships with children, families, and co-workers. Conduct ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of individual children, maintaining required program records as requested by the supervisor. Provide dialogue with parents and caregivers about their child's needs and progress, conducting family conferences and connecting families to the Y. Maintain program site and equipment, ensuring classroom cleanliness and organization for a well-prepared learning environment. Adhere to Washington State DCYF Licensing, Early Achievers, and YMCA standards, including ADA accommodations and safety procedures. Engage with children, families, and co-workers in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and training sessions. Demonstrate the Four Character Development Principles of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility through action and interaction.
Required Qualifications
- Early Childhood Education Certificate within 5 years of hire
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental, diverse setting
- Negative TB test within the past 6 months
- MMR Vaccination
- Registered in DCYF MERIT
- Blood Borne Pathogens training
- Portable background check
- Child Abuse Prevention training
- First Aid/CPR Certifications
- Food Handlers Permit
- 30 Hours Basic Training or Educational Exemption
- Understanding of the YMCA as a public accommodation committed to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds
