Job Summary

Blend tea according to precise proprietary ratios and perform sensory quality control checks on raw ingredients and finished products to ensure uncompromising standards. Operate tea bagging and enveloping machinery, troubleshoot minor mechanical issues, and conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime. Lead and coach the production staff through weekly huddles, shift scheduling, and structured training programs while enforcing the Code of Conduct. Manage inventory levels of botanicals and packaging materials, conduct physical audits, and forecast supply needs to prevent manufacturing delays. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align daily production goals with long-term company objectives and provide regular operational insights to leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Must possess or be willing to immediately complete the ServSafe Manager Certification
  • Proficiency in computer systems and inventory management tools
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods (entire shifts) on hard surfaces (e.g., concrete floors)
  • Must be able to safely relocate loads up to 60 lbs independently
  • Must distinguish, with high accuracy, differences in intensity or quality of flavors and odors for quality control
  • Must visually differentiate accurately between similar tools, ingredients, and resources
  • Must be able to comfortably work in an environment with high levels of airborne botanical particulates
  • Must be able to safely work in manufacturing environments involving hot equipment, moving mechanical parts, industrial cleaning chemicals, varying warehouse temperatures, and other risk factors
  • Must be able to attend and participate in required leadership meetings and off-site training sessions
  • Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
  • Must be able to understand and give clear, accurate verbal and written directions
  • Must be able to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues
  • Must be able to perform regular cleaning and maintenance on the equipment
  • Must be able to conduct regular, highly accurate physical audits of ingredients and finished products
  • Must be able to forecast production needs and communicate timely supply shortages to the procurement team
  • Must be able to ensure all batch tracking, inventory reporting, and production logs are filled out accurately and consistently
  • Must be able to provide regular updates, performance metrics, and operational insights directly to leadership
  • Must be able to actively pursue an understanding of Piper & Leaf operations
  • Must be able to actively read assigned materials to gain insights into management and production best practices
  • Must be able to demonstrate unquestionable integrity, sensitivity to confidential matters, and professional discretion
  • Must be able to work with and around raw herbs, fruits, dairy products, tree nuts, and fine tea dust
  • Must be able to withstand the physical realities of a high-volume, craft-production environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with working in a food production, brewery, or agricultural environment
