Job Summary
Organize initial prototype generation for evaluation and user testing while aligning with project managers to define, implement, and validate product requirements across iterative development phases. Lead the technical team through design realization, mechanical design, electrical integration, and verification, assigning clear owners to key aspects and managing cross-functional schedules with discipline heads. Support product launch and lifecycle validation, then lead discussions with third-party suppliers and manufacturers to qualify parts and achieve sample production runs. Liaise with the Hong Kong NPI team to prepare products for mass manufacture. This 12-month fixed term role is based in Cambridge for a senior systems engineer accountable for technical delivery of high-performance hair care tools.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or HNC/HND educated
- Significant experience of working in a design and technology company or high-end electronic consumer products company
- Strong skills and experience with electronics based products
- An understanding of transferring complex products into manufacture
- Exceptional planning and organising skills working within exacting timescales
- Methodical approach with excellent attention to detail
- Communicates well to both technical and non-technical personnel across multiple disciplines and to management committee level
- Prepared to occasionally travel to China and EU
Desired Qualifications
- Strong experience with electronic control systems
- Experience of developing products used in high temperature applications
- Understanding of 1st principle physics
- Experience of consumer trialling of products throughout the development phases
