Job Summary
Conduct insulation, power system, network, and reliability studies for HVDC projects, including simulation of overvoltage stresses and project loss calculations. Specify high-value equipment and coordinate engineering tasks to meet tender requirements while developing solutions tools and industrializing processes. Provide technical guidance on HVDC valves, control systems, and filter design, enforcing engineering discipline through technical reviews and process improvements. Mentor team members and represent the business externally by publishing technical papers. Apply advanced simulation tools like PSCAD and PSS/E to optimize system study solutions and ensure adherence to EHS standards.
Required Qualifications
- Educated with an Engineering degree (or equivalent) including power systems and power electronics subjects (minimum 2:1)
- Proven professional experience and technical expertise in the field of power system engineering
- Preference in HVDC System Design
- Knowledge of system tools like PSCAD, PSS/E, DigSilent, RTDS and MATLAB
- Expertise of the use of computer mathematical and simulation tools as applied to the design of insulation coordination, main equipment characteristics for HVDC, power quality issues, and HVDC valves and their control systems
- General understanding of the characteristics of HVDC Valves and their control systems
- Presentation ability
