Job Summary
Conduct insulation, power, network, and reliability studies for HVDC installations using simulation tools like PSCAD and PSS/E to determine overvoltage stresses and project losses. Specify main equipment items and coordinate engineering tasks to meet tender requirements while developing and industrializing solutions tools and processes. Enforce engineering discipline through technical reviews and trainings, mentor team members, and represent the business by publishing technical papers. Identify EHS risks, implement corrective actions, and promote safe behaviors. Apply knowledge of HVDC valves and control systems to optimize system study solutions and drive process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Educated with an Engineering degree (or equivalent) including power systems and power electronics subjects (minimum 2:1)
- Proven professional experience and technical expertise in the field of power system engineering
- Knowledge of system tools like PSCAD, PSS/E, DigSilent, RTDS and MATLAB etc.
- Insulation co-ordination and main equipment characteristics for HVDC
- An expertise of the use of computer mathematical and simulation tools as applied to the design of the aforementioned activities
- A general understanding of the characteristics of HVDC Valves and their control systems
- Presentation ability
