Job Summary
Lead Systems Designer responsible for overseeing the design systems for a large-scale game, guiding a Systems Design team through mentoring, hiring, and performance management, while contributing hands-on to gameplay systems design, prototyping, and iteration. Responsible for prototyping, implementing, and polishing gameplay systems using internal tools and scripting, coordinating with Gameplay Programming, creating clear design documentation and tutorials, planning schedules and milestones with Project Management, and ensuring on-screen design quality targets are met across milestones. Collaborates with Design Director and Game Director to ensure systems meet creative and technical goals, enforces standards, and fosters a collaborative, inclusive studio environment. The role is flexible to be remote with a hybrid policy and base pay determined by geographic location.
Required Qualifications
- Experience leading a design team
- Strong proficiency with Unreal Engine and Unity
- Proficiency in scripting and UE4 Blueprint
- Experience prototyping and iterating gameplay systems
- Ability to plan and manage design schedules and milestones
- Excellent communication and mentorship skills
- Ability to collaborate with Gameplay Programming and cross-discipline teams
