Job Summary
Lead Substation Engineer responsible for leading and coordinating all technical aspects of HV substation projects, defining plant solutions and project tools, supporting proposal tenders and project execution. Oversees design activities including power single-line drawings, general arrangement layouts (outdoor AIS and indoor HV/MV/LV equipment), plans/elevations, equipment erection drawings, and wiring/conduit layouts; develops technical specifications and data sheets for major HV equipment; manages BOM/MDL from multiple sources; acts as single point of contact for the customer and project manager; interfaces with Project Engineering Director, designers, CAD operators, and support teams; ensures on-time delivery, risk management, design reviews, and quality control. Requires Bachelor’s in engineering, 5+ years in transmission/distribution substation engineering, US work authorization, travel up to 20%, and preferred PE license. This is a remote-ready role with potential travel and a focus on customer-facing technical leadership and design delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college (BSEE strongly preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Transmission & Distribution substation engineering for electric utilities and renewable energy power plants
- Experience as an Electrical Project Engineer in substation type applications, including primary (outdoor) substation design and required studies
- Professional Engineering license in the United States (preferred) and willingness to review and seal work
- Willingness to travel up to 20%, including international travel
- Ability to work in the United States and be legally authorized to work
- Strong knowledge of ANSI/IEEE standards, NEC, NESC, and related equipment
