Job Summary
The Lead Substation Electrical Engineer will act as a technical leader on complex projects within the Renewables/Utility/Power sectors. Responsibilities include making design recommendations for utility substations, performing engineering calculations, providing technical guidance, and supporting multidisciplinary teams throughout all phases of project work. Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, professional licensure, and a minimum of 7 years of engineering experience. Skills in leadership, communication, team collaboration, as well as proficiency in substation design and studies are essential. Familiarity with industry standards and software applications is also required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- CFIA professional licensure
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- Effective leadership and mentoring skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with substation protection and control design
- Ability to perform AC & DC substation studies
- Knowledge of substation electrical physical equipment
- Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Must have authorization to work legally in Costa Rica for any employer
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code (NESC)
- Knowledge of Rural Utilities Service (RUS) design guide
- Knowledge of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
- Knowledge of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)
- Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Knowledge of basic relay settings
- On-site commissioning and/or construction support experience
