Lead Substation Automation Engineer

Job Summary
Lead Substation Automation Systems engineering and field services for DCS, Gateways, and RTU panels. Own all technical activities including site surveys, system engineering, detailed design, material specifications, panel integration, and FAT coordination. Lead and develop the technical team through training, mentorship, and day-to-day support. Analyze customer requirements to propose innovative, cost-effective technical solutions and design substation LAN networks and communication architectures. Configure industrial Ethernet switches, routers, and time synchronization systems. Coordinate with Sales, Tendering, Project Management, and After-Sales teams while preparing and delivering customer training sessions. Support project planning to ensure key milestones are achieved according to schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, Electronics, Control, or Communications Engineering, or a closely related technical field from an accredited institution
- Minimum 3 year of hands-on experience (Engineering / Configuration / Testing and Commissioning) of DCS (IEC 61850), BCU, GW, and RTU for electrical power substations HV/EHV
- Knowledge of sequencing and interlocking principles used in substation automation and their implementation on IEC 61850 IEDs
- Working knowledge of communication and automation protocols such as IEC 61850, MODBUS, IEC 60870-5-101/104, T103, and SNMP
- Proficiency in at least one of CAD tools such as AutoCAD, MS Visio or equivalent
- Strong skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability and willingness to travel within and outside the country without limitations, as required
- Fluency in English and Arabic

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to lead technical teams and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Good understanding of IT/OT networking; CCNA certification or equivalent is preferred
- Solid understanding of Egypt-specific customer solutions and product specifications
- Strong analytical capability to quickly understand challenges and guide effective, customer‐focused solutions
- Proven problem‐solving skills with a focus on innovative and creative solutions that support profitability and market growth
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders
- Confidence in presenting technical information and delivering training to varied audiences
- Experience working with Egyptian utilities, oil & gas customers, EPCs, OEMs, and system integrators
- Proactive, energetic, and collaborative work style with a strong team orientation
- Fast learner with a strong interest in adopting new technologies and continuously enhancing technical capabilities
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and respond positively to urgent or changing requirements
