Job Summary
Lead structural analysis for flight hardware across static strength, fatigue and damage tolerance, fracture mechanics, and durability; oversee a team of analysts, provide mentorship, establish standards and verification workflows, and develop automation using Python or MATLAB to improve efficiency. Lead the development, verification, and certification of primary and secondary structures from design through flight operations, collaborating with design, materials, manufacturing, and test teams to ensure robust, manufacturable, and flight-ready structures. Proficient in finite element tools (Nastran, Abaqus) and fracture mechanics software (NASGRO, AFGROW); translate flight and test data into validated analyses and life predictions across vehicle levels.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline
- Experience leading or mentoring a team (either formally or informally)
- 5+ years of experience in structural analysis, fatigue & damage tolerance, or structural life assessment
- Proficiency with Nastran
- Proficiency with Abaqus
- Experience using pre/post-processing environments such as Femap
- Experience with NASGRO
- Experience with AFGROW
- Proficiency with Python or MATLAB
- Ability to independently scope, execute, review, and defend structural analyses
