Job Summary
Assemble surgical instrument trays and pans for complex procedures including open heart, transplant, and neurosurgical cases. Operate cleaning and sterilization equipment such as washers, sterilizers, and sonic cleaners while monitoring indicators by testing and recording data. Retrieve contaminated equipment from patient care areas, restock prep areas, and manage inventory of sterile instrument pans. Scan PIC tickets on instrument trays and case cart protocols using computer software. Collect needles and sharps containers from the operating room for proper disposal. Assist in staff training on surgical instrument identification and delegate assignments to adjust workflow based on priority needs.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Three years of experience in sterile processing
- Registered as a Central Service Technician
- Experience with computer software
- Must possess strong leadership skills and the ability to prioritize and delegate assignments
- The ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
