Job Summary
Lead SQL Engineer to lead a distributed US-based team delivering custom analytics assets (dashboards, queries, data products) for customers, owning intake, scoping, Jira execution, QA, SLAs, and delivery quality; act as a customer-facing technical leader coordinating with Success, Solutions Architecture, Implementation, Sales, Product, and Engineering; drive strategy for self-serve analytics vs. custom work and collaborate on internal platform projects and Moby-related SQL; require deep experience in production SQL at scale, BigQuery/ClickHouse, and a strong e-commerce data stack; remote-first role with base compensation in the listed USD range.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience writing and shipping production SQL at scale
- Strong experience with BigQuery and/or ClickHouse
- 2+ years of experience managing data engineers, analysts, BI engineers, or a customer-facing technical delivery team
- Experience running or improving a request-driven service model with intake, ticketing, QA, SLAs, delivery standards, and feedback loops
- Strong customer presence and ability to lead calls with senior marketing, growth, or data stakeholders
- Hands-on familiarity with Shopify, Meta, Google, TikTok, Klaviyo, attribution modelling, and related data joins
- Strong systems thinking and ability to design scalable workflows
- Comfort with Jira, Slack, HubSpot and other workflow tools
- Excellent written communication and ability to produce Jira updates, documentation, and technical explanations
- Ownership mindset balancing technical depth, customer empathy, leadership, and execution
- Nice to have: Python, LLM-assisted analytics workflows
