Lead Specialist - Software Development

Lead Specialist – Software Development role focused on providing technical leadership in creating and applying software solutions that enhance engineering analysis across multi-disciplinary domains. You will shape how software is developed and used to automate methods, improve quality, and enable integration across analysis areas. As a recognised technical authority, you will ensure solutions meet validation, verification and regulatory expectations in a highly regulated nuclear environment, while mentoring engineers, driving strategic direction for engineering software, and building relationships with internal teams and external partners. The role requires strong experience developing, verifying and implementing software tools for engineering analysis, proficiency with Python and Azure DevOps, familiarity with Abaqus or Ansys, and a track record of leadership across product lifecycles in regulated contexts. You will contribute to shaping technical strategy through awareness of industry trends and innovation, and participate in complex, cross-disciplinary engineering challenges to deliver robust software-enabled solutions. Location is flexible with hybrid working at Warrington, Derby or Manchester; the position emphasizes collaboration, mentorship, and ongoing professional development within Rolls-Royce SMR.
