Job Summary
Lead Software Systems Engineer to lead the software product baseline for the P-8 Mission Systems Software Engineering team in Kent, WA. The role requires guiding architecture, design, prototyping, and development of mission computing software, coordinating with software and hardware stakeholders, and translating system-level requirements into software requirements to meet Navy capability requests. Responsibilities include planning software development tasks, conducting design reviews, ensuring alignment to requirements, mentoring junior engineers, and driving software validation/testing across Windows and Linux environments within an on-site, Agile/SAFe context. 100% onsite with potential relocation considerations. Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance is required, and applicants must be eligible for U.S. citizenship. Proficiency with MBSE, DOORS or similar tools, Jira/Confluence/Git, and experience in defense/space programs are highly desired. The role may involve travel up to 10% and requires adherence to security and COI requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required)
- 9+ years’ experience with software development on Windows or Linux
- 5+ years’ experience with Java or C++
- Experience with mission systems, avionics, embedded systems, or related defense/space programs
- Experience with Agile or SAFe practices
- Strong systems thinking and analytical/problem-solving skills
- Familiar with requirements management tools (DOORS or similar), MBSE (MSOSE/Cameo or similar) and collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, Git)
