Lead Software Engineer

Job Summary
Lead a team of 3–5 engineers to shape technical direction, architecture, and delivery for real-time data systems, simulations, and analysis tools across Aerodynamics, Vehicle Dynamics, and Vehicle Performance. You’ll remain hands-on while setting quality standards, mentoring engineers, managing dependencies and risks, and bridging between engineering and performance functions. The role spans desktop (C++, C#), web (React/TypeScript), Python-based analysis tools, and backend services (C++, Rust, F#, C#), with cloud-native modernization and modern data platforms. You’ll contribute to technology strategy, drive architectural decisions, conduct code reviews, and engage directly with users and stakeholders. Desired experience includes distributed systems, real-time streaming, databases, familiarity with functional programming (F#), DevOps practices, and a track record of delivering scalable, maintainable systems. Nice-to-have: a Computer Science/Engineering/Mathematics degree and domain experience in motorsport or related high-performance software domains. Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of software development experience
- at least 2 years in a senior or lead engineering role
- proficiency across C++, Rust, Python, React/TypeScript, and backend services; familiarity with functional programming languages such as F#
- experience with distributed systems, real-time streaming (Kafka, WebSockets), and multiple data stores
- experience with DevOps practices including CI/CD, containerisation, and infrastructure-as-code
- strong architectural skills and end-to-end technical ownership
- ability to mentor and develop engineers
- ability to translate performance problems into deliverable software
