Job Summary
Lead Software Engineer on the JPMorganChase Card Technology Team specializing in mainframe and distributed architectures. Leads critical software development efforts, reviews and debugs production code, identifies opportunities to automate remediation for operational stability, and drives architectural design discussions with external vendors and internal teams. Promotes best practices through communities of practice, champions diversity and inclusion, and provides technical leadership and mentorship across global teams. Key focus areas include mainframe technologies (COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, MQ, VSAM, IMS DB, SQL, stored procedures), IBM utilities, WebSphere MQ, automation and CD pipelines, agile delivery, cloud-native work (AWS, GCP), and modernization/data-migration initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts
- 5+ years applied experience in software engineering
- Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Advanced proficiency in COBOL, DB2, CICS, IBM JCL, MQ, VSAM; strong skills in IMS DB, DB2 SQL and Stored Procedures
- Proficiency with FTP/NDM/File-Mover, CA-7, IBM Utilities and debug tools
- Familiarity with IBM WebSphere MQ messaging solution
- Skilled in estimating and planning JIRA stories
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within Mainframe Technology & distributed applications
- Practical cloud native experience with AWS, GCP
- Leadership, guidance, and support to ensure team success and development of a global team
