Job Summary
Provide hands-on technical leadership across the Ruby on Rails platform with a focus on DevOps, AWS, Kubernetes, and transitioning to a multi-tenant architecture. Responsibilities include writing production Rails code, enhancing infrastructure and workflows, and ensuring reliability and scalability. Required qualifications include 7+ years of experience in Ruby on Rails applications, strong AWS and Kubernetes skills, and the ability to lead on-call rotations and mentor engineers. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is mandatory.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience building and operating production-grade Ruby on Rails applications.
- Demonstrated experience in DevOps or platform-focused engineering roles, not just application development.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure (e.g., EKS/ECS, EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch).
- Practical experience deploying and operating applications in Kubernetes environments.
- Experience designing and improving CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
- Strong proficiency with relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL, including performance tuning.
- Solid understanding of software architecture, system design, and tradeoffs at scale.
- Proven ability to debug complex production issues and drive them to resolution.
- Comfortable working in Agile development environments with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience leading or contributing to single-tenant → multi-tenant SaaS transformations.
- Experience with distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, or event-driven systems at scale
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).
- Experience operating high-traffic, multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, or Scout APM.
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes-based orchestration at scale.
- Knowledge of background job processing systems (e.g., Sidekiq, Resque).
- Experience modernizing large legacy Rails codebases.
