Job Summary
Lead Software Engineer to help build PURE Insurance's in-house rating engine. Write clean, maintainable Python code and collaborate to design and implement features in a shared Python codebase. Develop and maintain both back-end and front-end components for the insurance rating lifecycle, and engage with stakeholders across business units to translate requirements into technical solutions. Analyze customer data to validate rating logic and ensure accuracy. Learn P&C concepts and apply this knowledge to create code-based solutions that meet business needs. Required skills include Python proficiency with experience in large codebases and Git; experience building internal tools; debugging and root-cause analysis; 5+ years of Python development and data analysis; JavaScript/TypeScript frontend experience is a plus; production deployment experience is a plus; familiarity with P&C insurance and GenAI-based tools is a plus. All positions in the Data & ML/AI Department are full-time remote employment within the USA, with optional offices across the USA; base salary ranges from $145,000 to $175,000, and onboarding may require onsite work in the first week.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Python development and data analysis
- Proficiency in Python with experience in large codebases and version control (e.g., Git)
- Experience writing clean, maintainable code and collaborating on features in a shared Python codebase
- Experience with front-end development in JavaScript/TypeScript is a plus
- Experience with production deployment patterns is a plus
- Familiarity with P&C insurance concepts is a plus
