Job Summary
Lead Software Engineer for Platform at JPMorgan Chase International Consumer Bank UK. Collaborates with product, platform and development teams to design and operate a first-class observability capability across cloud-native microservices, driving OpenTelemetry adoption, instrumentation patterns, and governance for data redaction, encryption, and audit capabilities. Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, enables multi-regional telemetry ingestion and visualization, and contributes to a culture of diversity and continuous improvement. Focus areas include developer experience, observability tooling, security alignment, and scalable solutions across the software development lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages (Python or other) and database querying languages
- Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Understanding of Agile methodologies, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, mobile, etc.)
- Demonstrated knowledge in telemetry management: time-series storage and optimisation, PromQL or equivalent, ingestion pipelines, parsing/enrichment, retention and cost management, tracing sampling strategies
- Experience with Public Cloud services in Production (AWS or other)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or other)
