Job Summary
Interface with customers, product management, and hardware engineers to define innovative Layer1 features, then architect and manage their development using C, C++ and Python. Build automated test infrastructure to validate functionality while collaborating with optics and manufacturing teams to bring new transceiver components to market. Provide technical leadership across features and projects, mentor junior engineers, and work with support and system test teams to analyze network issues and deploy fixes. Own projects from definition through deployment, ensuring scalability and performance across diverse forwarding engines and interface chips.
Required Qualifications
- BS Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering + 6 years experience
- MS Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering + 4 years experience
- Ph.D. in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering + 3 years experience
- Expert knowledge of C or C++ and Python
- Experience working with low level hardware components
- Knowledge of digital communication technologies like modulation and signal encoding schemes
- Knowledge of UNIX or Linux
- Understanding and ability to apply software engineering principles
- Strong problem solving and software troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrated technical leadership, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a small team environment
- Ability to design a solution and implement features independently
Desired Qualifications
- Understanding of IP networking and/or distributed systems is a plus
