Job Summary
Own features end-to-end in Django and HTMX, implementing backend analytical engines and REST endpoints against written task briefs while maintaining strict API parity. Review pull requests from contractors and junior engineers, enforcing decoupling mandates and regulatory compliance before code lands. Mentor teams on AI-assisted development using Claude Code, guiding prompt writing and verifying AI output without rubber-stamping. Keep documentation synchronized for every feature and bank lessons learned to prevent future issues. Work asynchronously within a specification-driven methodology where direct decisions and constructive pushback are encouraged.
Required Qualifications
- Solid Django and Django REST Framework experience
- Comfortable working full-stack: JavaScript (vanilla; no specific framework required), HTMX, and reading and modifying Django templates with embedded HTMX attributes
- Comfortable with Celery, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Docker Compose for local development
- Experience with — or willingness to learn quickly — the regression and statistical analysis libraries in the codebase (pandas, numpy, statsmodels, scikit-learn)
- Has shipped real code using Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar — not just experimented
- Experience reviewing other engineers' work
- Strong writing skills
- A temperament for working in a regulated domain
- College Degree preferred
- Must have the ability to associate and work well with others including co-workers, vendors, suppliers and customers
- Must have 5-7 years' experience in current or related field
- Must have strong computer skills
- Be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Being able to communicate effectively, good listening skills, deal with difficult calls, problem solve
- Must be able to multitask
- General knowledge of processing, underwriting or appraisals a plus
- This is a remote position
- Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00a.m. – 5:00.p.m. Hours may change depending on business needs. Predictable and regular attendance is required
- Sitting at a desk using a computer for long periods of time
- Must be able to use a phone with or without a headset
- Lifting, pushing, pulling, and reaching for items under 10lbs
