Job Summary
Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase responsible for designing, developing, and evolving a highly scalable GraphQL platform across multiple teams. Drives platform strategy, observability standards, and automation of CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code. Leads engineering initiatives, mentors engineers, crafts developer-friendly experiences (APIs, tooling, documentation, integration patterns), and champions reliability, performance, and security within a financial-services context.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts
- 5+ years of applied software engineering experience
- Proven leadership experience in mentoring engineers and driving architectural decisions
- Advanced in one or more programming languages (Typescript, Go, Rust, Python, or similar)
- Deep hands-on experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and service mesh architectures
- Strong GraphQL architecture, schema design, and REST API principles
- Extensive experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies
- Expert-level proficiency with Git/Bitbucket and distributed systems monitoring (e.g., Splunk, DataDog, Dynatrace, CloudWatch)
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies (CI/CD, resilience, security)
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry IT systems
- Production experience architecting and scaling GraphQL platforms and cloud architectures (AWS)
- Experience with AWS services (EKS, ECS Fargate, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, X-Ray, ElastiCache-Redis, RDS Aurora Postgres, MSK, KMS)
- Ability to design and evaluate architectural trade-offs and drive platform reliability and developer productivity
