Job Summary
Lead Software Engineer - Java at JPMorganChase within the Commercial & Investment Bank's MARKETS TECH - TRADING space. As a core technical contributor, responsible for executing secure, high-quality production Java code, driving architectural evaluations with external vendors and internal teams, leading communities of practice, and mentoring junior engineers to advance software engineering capabilities in a fast-paced, security-conscious financial services environment.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Advanced expertise in Java programming language
- Expert Java Programmer (Java 11+) with a dedication to clean code
- In-depth Knowledge of software design and architecture principles
- Agile SDLC experience – Scrum, code reviews, and mentoring junior team members
- Build, dependency management, CI/CD, and code quality toolchain – Git / Gradle / Jenkins / Sonar
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
- Practical cloud native experience
Desired Qualifications
- Strong Java expertise
- Cloud platform experience (AWS preferred)
- Familiarity with modern web UI technologies
- C# development with WPF experience is a plus
