Job Summary
Lead Software Engineer – Country Risk at JPMorganChase leads an agile team to deliver secure, scalable technology across multiple business functions, driving architectural design decisions, evaluating external vendors, and promoting modern technologies while ensuring operational stability and inclusive team culture. Responsibilities include designing, developing, debugging, and reviewing production-grade code; automating remediation of recurring issues; leading architecture discussions with vendors and internal teams; fostering communities of practice; and contributing to a diverse, inclusive engineering environment. Key skills include Java/J2EE, data engineering, ETL with Databricks/Hadoop/AWS Glue, SQL and NoSQL databases, cloud (AWS), CI/CD, agile practices, and a deep understanding of financial services IT systems.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on data engineering and application development
- 5+ years applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Proven Expertise with Big Data & ETL tools like Databricks, Hadoop, AWS Glue
- Advanced knowledge of Databases Management, Relational & Non-Relational Databases (SQL, NoSQL)
- Experience with Cloud technologies (AWS)
- Strong understanding of data, data modeling and database methodologies and architecture disciplines
- Proficiency in multiple modern programming languages in particular, the Java/J2EE stack
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
- Practical cloud native experience
