Job Summary
Lead Software Engineer - Backend Engineer at JPMorgan Chase in London, responsible for delivering end-to-end cloud-native microservices in the International Consumer Bank. You will design and implement scalable, secure back-end solutions using Java, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems, ensure high-quality tests, manage incidents and production support, and coach peers on coding practices and design principles within a geographically distributed team. The role focuses on areas such as fraud and financial crime prevention, identity services, money transfers, card payments, lending, customer onboarding, core banking, insurance products, rewards campaigns, and servicing innovations, with a strong emphasis on reliability, performance, and continuous technology updates.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and applied experience
- Recent hands-on professional experience as a back-end software engineer
- Experience in coding in a recent version of the Java programming language
- Experience in designing and implementing effective tests (unit, component, integration, end-to-end, performance, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Experience with cloud technologies and distributed systems, RESTful APIs and web technologies
- Knowledge of messaging frameworks
- Seasoned with operating, supporting and the security of mission critical software applications
- Understanding with different kinds of data stores (including relational data stores)
- Coach other team members on coding practices, design principles, and implementation patterns that lead to high-quality maintainable solutions
- Manage stakeholders and effectively prioritize work across multiple work streams.
