Job Summary

Lead Signal Processing Researcher in STR’s Sensors Division, focusing on developing, testing, integrating, and demonstrating novel signal processing, optimization, and machine learning algorithms for advanced electronic warfare and sensor applications. Lead multi-disciplinary teams to design RF/Radar concepts, signal processing chains, and remote sensing solutions; direct modeling and simulation of advanced RF systems; plan and support algorithm test and evaluation in lab and field environments; clearly communicate with customers, sponsors, prime- and subcontractors. Required: active security clearance eligibility, advanced degree, strong programming skills (Matlab/Python/Simulink/C++), expertise in radar and RF signal chains, ML/AI experience, and leadership capabilities. Desirable: TS/SSBI with SCI, software development experience, and ability to translate mission needs into integrated analytical solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Security Clearance, with eligibility to support special access programs (US Citizenship required)
  • PhD, MS, or BS in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related technical discipline with 3-8+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong scientific programming skills including Matlab, Python, Simulink and/or C/C++
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to describe complex technical concepts to fellow researchers as well as to non-technical people
  • Experience with designing, implementing, testing, and analyzing ML/AI algorithms
  • Strong understanding of radar architectures, waveforms, modes, and RF signal chains
  • Ability to translate customer requirements to determine research focus
  • Ability to create and present deep technical briefings as well as high-level briefings to Customers and senior management
  • Current TS/SSBI with SCI and ability to gain and hold SCI/SAP accreditations (preferred)
  • Experience with advanced RF system concepts, signal processing, open architectures, and systems integration (preferred)
  • Experience in Software Development (preferred)
  • Pay attention to state-of-the-art literature and transition it into practical solutions (preferred)
  • Ability to work with decision-makers and customers to translate mission needs into end-to-end solutions (preferred)

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of radar architectures, waveforms, RF signal chains
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into research focus
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and performing modeling and simulation
  • Willingness to obtain/maintain national security clearances
  • Experience in electronic warfare and RF/system-level signal processing
  • Current TS/SSBI with SCI (preferred)
  • Experience with software development (optional)
  • Ability to survey literature and transition state-of-the-art research into practical solutions
