Job Summary
Lead/Senior Software Engineer for the User Foundations Platform at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology. Build and scale high-throughput backend services and APIs, develop data-intensive applications and dashboards, and design systems for real-time event streaming and user state management. Contribute to experimentation, audience segmentation, and personalization platforms; improve performance, observability, and reliability. Collaborate across product, data, and platform teams; mentor engineers; drive best practices (CI/CD, testing, code quality). Requires 5+ years in software engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in CS/IS/software/electrical/electronics or related field. Roles may involve backend and/or frontend work (Java/Node/Python/Go or React/TypeScript), APIs (REST/GraphQL), SQL/NoSQL databases, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure). Knowledge of Spring Boot, Kafka, distributed systems, and real-time data processing is a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study
- 5+ years experience in software engineering
- Experience building backend services (Java/Node/Python/Go) OR modern frontend apps (React/TypeScript)
- Experience with APIs (REST/GraphQL)
- Databases (SQL/NoSQL)
- Cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
- Familiarity with CI/CD and version control
- Strong fundamentals in data structures & algorithms and system design
- Experience with Java, Spring Boot, Kafka (Preferred)
- Distributed systems & event-driven architecture (Preferred)
- Kubernetes / Terraform / cloud infra (Nice to Have)
- Observability tools (Nice to Have)
- Real-time systems (Nice to Have)
- AI-assisted development tools (Nice to Have)
