Job Summary
Supervise day-to-day operations of the Safety and Security Department to ensure maximum safety for students, staff, and property. Act as the designated safety and occupational health officer, ensuring proper screening of all individuals entering and exiting the site. Model core values while assisting students in adjusting to center life through supervision, behavior modification, and mentoring. Patrol assigned areas, perform security checks, and respond to disturbances, fires, or medical emergencies. Investigate complaints, document incident reports, and enforce the Zero Tolerance Policy. Escort students as directed, monitor discipline incidents, and facilitate assistance during injuries or emotional trauma. Prepare required reports, including case notes, accident reports, and quarterly property counts. Work Saturday to Wednesday from 11:30pm to 8:30am in a full-time onsite role at a government-funded Job Corps center in San Jose.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Two years work-related experience
- May require a Guard Card or ability to obtain a Guard Card per State requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid State driver's license
- Must obtain and maintain valid CPR/FA certificates
- Ability to effectively relate to trainee population
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to obtain state Security officer certification within 90 days of hire
