Job Summary
Lead security architect role delivering secure, mission-critical digital solutions for Defence and National Security projects. Responsibilities include secure delivery of internal/MOD projects, supporting agile teams in Kubernetes environments for proofs of concept and live services, and producing evidence to meet MOD regulations. Focus areas include risk management within Defence/Security, security architecture aligned to system protection levels, security design across cloud and on-prem environments, collaborating with Software Engineering, DevSecOps, Infrastructure Engineering, Agile and Cyber Security, and developing security documentation and artefacts. Candidates should have experience with MOD accreditation processes, security clearances or eligibility, and knowledge of tools/tech stacks such as Azure, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, NodeJS, Typescript, MongoDB, and related technologies. Strong written reporting and design documentation skills, plus a proactive, curious, problem-solving mindset and the ability to operate within secure, safety-critical environments.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with risk management using industry methodologies (e.g., NIST 800-53)
- Design and implementation of secure-by-design architectures
- Ability to work technically with software, infrastructure, and security teams
- Identification/design/selection of security components for various infrastructures (cloud, on-prem)
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance topics relevant to cyber security
- Creation of security documentation (Security Aspects, Risk Assessments, Security Policies, Test Plans/Results)
- Experience with MOD accreditation processes and interacting with accreditors
- Knowledge of Azure, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and related tech stacks (e.g., Apache NiFi/Kafka, NodeJS, Typescript, MongoDB)
- Understanding of security controls across networks, endpoints, and data protection
- Ability to communicate complex security concepts to cross-functional teams
- Willingness to obtain or currently hold UK Security Clearance
