Job Summary
Lead sales associate duties include unloading trucks, stocking merchandise, rotating displays, and assisting customers to locate items. Operate cash registers, process payments, manage drawer pulls, and handle bank deposits. Authorize refunds and overrides, maintain strict cash control, and monitor cameras for security. Clean store floors, restrooms, and stockrooms; dust, mop, and manage trash. Set up sidewalk displays, maintain register countertops, and assist in opening or closing the store under Area Manager direction. Complete required paperwork and documentation per guidelines. Requires six months of supervisory experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Ability to perform IBM cash register functions
- Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices
- Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills
- Understanding of safety policies and practices
- Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance
- Ability to push and/or pull rolltainers for stocking merchandise
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to lift up to 55 pounds
- Ability to climb up to heights of six feet
- Ability to drive or provide own transportation to make bank deposits, attend management meetings and travel to other Dollar General stores
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training) preferred
