Job Summary
Lead sales associate in Cuba, NY, acting as a cashier and stocker while assuming store leadership duties during the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager. Unload trucks, unpack cartons, stock merchandise, rotate displays, and assist customers by locating items. Operate cash registers, process payments, manage drawer pulls, and authorize refunds and overrides. Maintain register countertops, clean store floors and restrooms, and monitor cameras for security. Open and close the store under Area Manager direction, complete required paperwork, and ensure strict adherence to cash control and safety policies. This role involves fast-paced operations with frequent walking, standing, and lifting up to 40 pounds. Starting pay is $16.50 - $16.75.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Ability to perform IBM cash register functions
- Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices
- Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills
- Understanding of safety policies and practices
- Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance
- Ability to push and/or pull rolltainers for stocking merchandise
- Frequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds
- Occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds
- Occasional climbing (using step ladder) up to heights of six feet
- Occasional or regular driving/providing own transportation to make bank deposits, attend management meetings and travel to other Dollar General stores
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training) preferred
