Job Summary
Lead sales associate duties include unloading trucks, stocking merchandise, rotating displays, and assisting customers with product location. Operate cash registers, collect payments, and manage register countertops while maintaining strict cashier accountability and key control. In the absence of the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager, authorize refunds and overrides, count registers, make bank deposits, and monitor cameras for unusual activities. Open and close the store under Area Manager direction, clean restrooms and floors, and ensure a safe, secure working environment. This role supports the Dollar General mission of serving others by maximizing profitability and customer satisfaction across neighborhood locations.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Ability to perform IBM cash register functions
- Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices
- Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills
- Understanding of safety policies and practices
- Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training) preferred
