Job Summary
Conduct cashier and stocker duties while acting as a lead in the Store Manager's absence. Unload trucks, receive merchandise, and stock shelves by rotating and facing items. Operate cash registers to itemize purchases, collect payments, and make change. Manage register counts, authorize refunds and overrides, and process bank deposits. Maintain a clean store environment by dusting, mopping, and managing trash. Assist customers with locating merchandise and monitor cameras for unusual activities. Complete all required paperwork and documentation according to guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Ability to perform IBM cash register functions
- Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices
- Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills
- Understanding of safety policies and practices
- Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training)
- Ability to push and/or pull rolltainers for stocking merchandise
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to lift up to 55 pounds
- Ability to climb up to heights of six feet
- Ability to provide own transportation to make bank deposits, attend management meetings and travel to other Dollar General stores
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training) preferred
