Job Summary
Greet and assist customers while operating cash registers to process transactions, collect payments, and bag merchandise. Stock and recover merchandise, build displays, and maintain a clean store by dusting, mopping floors, and cleaning restrooms. Open and close the store under Store Manager direction, perform duties typically assigned to managers during their absence, and assist with planogram implementation. This role requires frequent walking, standing, and lifting up to 40 pounds in a fast-paced environment. Starting pay is $16.50–$16.75 per hour. Dollar General serves shoppers with everyday low prices across convenient neighborhood locations.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Ability to perform IBM cash register functions
- Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices
- Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills
- Understanding of safety policies and practices
- Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training)
- Ability to push and/or pull rolltainers for stocking merchandise
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to lift up to 55 pounds
- Ability to climb up to heights of six feet
- Ability to provide own transportation to make bank deposits, attend management meetings and travel to other Dollar General stores

- High school diploma or equivalent and six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training) preferred
