Job Summary
Lead sales associate responsibilities include unloading trucks, stocking and rotating merchandise, and assisting customers with locating items. Operate cash registers to process transactions, collect payments, and manage drawer pulls while maintaining strict cash accountability and key control. In the absence of the Store Manager, authorize refunds, count registers, make bank deposits, and monitor cameras for unusual activities. Clean store floors, restrooms, and front-end displays, and assist with plan-o-gram implementation. Requires high school diploma, six months of supervisory experience, and ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Position involves frequent walking, standing, and bending in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Ability to perform IBM cash register functions
- Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices
- Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills
- Understanding of safety policies and practices
- Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance
- Ability to push and/or pull rolltainers for stocking merchandise
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to lift up to 55 pounds
- Ability to climb up to heights of six feet
- Occasional or regular driving/providing own transportation to make bank deposits, attend management meetings and travel to other Dollar General stores
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training) preferred
