Job Summary
Lead sales associate duties include unloading trucks, stocking merchandise, rotating displays, and assisting customers with product location. Operate cash registers, collect payments, and manage drawer pulls while maintaining strict cash accountability and key control. Authorize refunds and overrides, monitor cameras for unusual activities, and handle bank deposits when the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager is absent. Clean store floors, restrooms, and stockrooms; maintain plan-o-grams and register countertops to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction. Open and close the store under Area Manager direction while following all Standard Operating Procedures. This role supports the broader Dollar General mission of serving others through everyday low prices in convenient neighborhood locations.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Ability to perform IBM cash register functions
- Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices
- Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills
- Understanding of safety policies and practices
- Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance
- Ability to push and/or pull rolltainers for stocking merchandise
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to lift up to 55 pounds
- Ability to climb up to heights of six feet
- Occasional or regular driving/providing own transportation to make bank deposits, attend management meetings and travel to other Dollar General stores
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training) preferred
