Job Summary
Initialize complex robotic platforms, manage frame calibration, and configure multi-protocol I/O communication. Design complete robot programming architecture ensuring seamless handshaking between articulated arms, central PLCs, and material handling platforms. Collaborate through the entire build, run-off, and shop debug lifecycle to guarantee systems meet strict customer cycle-time specs. Integrate, calibrate, and program advanced 2D/3D vision systems for high-speed part inspection and precision guidance. Provide hands-on technical guidance during mechanical and electrical assembly while tracking down wiring faults and optimizing end-of-arm tooling. Mentor shop technicians and lead global field travel for customer startups and final system sign-offs. Partner with application engineering groups to provide critical technical insights for future automation concepts and quoting.
Required Qualifications
- Completed 2-year or 4-year engineering degree
- US Citizen or Green Card holder
- Valid driver's license
- 4 to 6 Years Field Integration Experience
- Engineering Education: Completed 2-year Associate Degree or 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Automation, Mechatronics, or Software Technology)
- Direct experience utilizing robotic offline simulation software
- Experience editing ladder logic
- Referencing digital mechanical assemblies inside SolidWorks/CAD
- Expert capability diagnosing multi-variant automated system faults across robotic, electrical, fluid power, and mechanical safety domains
- Practical background setting up, troubleshooting, and programming dedicated vision hardware, lighting arrays, and industrial cameras (e.g., Cognex, Keyence)
- Full availability and willingness to travel 30% to 40% globally for customer startups and site handoffs
- Residence established within a comfortable, daily 45-minute driving radius of the Brown Deer, WI shop area
- Valid passport
- Multi-Brand Robot Certifications: Formal factory training or certifications from FANUC, Yaskawa Motoman, or ABB
- Advanced PLC Programming: Experience writing structured text or complex function blocks in Allen-Bradley (Studio 5000) or Siemens (TIA Portal)
- Hands-on setup of Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, and Safety PLC interlocks across integrated cell boundaries
