Job Summary
Administer advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and provide mechanical ventilation for adults, children, and infants. Use invasive and noninvasive technology to assist with the diagnosis and treatment of cardiopulmonary disorders, including arterial blood gas sampling and analysis. Inspect, operate, maintain, and calibrate respiratory equipment such as oxygen systems, CPAP, ventilators, and blood gas analyzers. Maintain intubation competency (5 per year) and insertion of radial arterial catheters (5 per year). Assess and administer medical gases and aerosolized medications while following weaning protocols in critical care areas. Work the night shift from 7pm to 7:30pm. Maintain 10 CEUs annually or 30 for NYS renewal and participate in performance improvement, staff development, and departmental coordination activities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Science
- New York State Respiratory Therapist License
- currently active and registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Five years of clinical experience in both adult critical and neonatal / pediatric care settings
- Working knowledge of pulmonary diagnostic equipment, therapeutic respiratory equipment, and PC computer
- BLS certification
- Night Shift - 7pm to 7:30 pm

- Experience preferred in Respiratory Care
- demonstrate knowledge of all Respiratory Care equipment in terms of applications, limitations, troubleshooting, and alternative course of actions
- broad scope of knowledge in the pathology of disease with focus on cardiopulmonary pathophysiology and respiratory care treatment of disease states
- ACLS
- Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS)
- Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS)
- Certified Asthma Educator (AE-C)
- Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT)
