Lead Respiratory Therapist

Job Summary

Screen and evaluate ventilator and respiratory clients, consult with physicians on treatment protocols, and develop care plans including ventilator weaning. Maintain written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries while conducting monthly mock codes. Orient and train Respiratory Therapists and students, oversee staff assignments, and lead department meetings with the Director of Nursing. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, quality assurance committees, and administrative staff to ensure regulatory compliance and improve care quality. Conduct in-service training for families and review department policies annually. Arrive on time, adhere to dress code and safety rules, and complete required annual in-service training hours.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited educational institution
  • Active, unencumbered state Respiratory Therapist license in state where work is performed
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist by National Board of Respiratory Care
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in respiratory therapy
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level

  • Interest in respiratory therapy treatment program for chronic ventilator, ventilator weaning, and respiratory rehabilitation population
  • Display of genuine concern for the pediatric and chronically ill

  • Ability to cooperate and maintain respectful treatment towards others
  • Sense of responsibility, maturity, diplomacy, and ability to work well with residents, families, and other staff members
