Job Summary
Lead Respiratory Therapist directs the shift and oversees daily patient-care activities, providing direct patient care and medication administration, ensuring equipment functionality, and supporting onboarding and precepting. Responsibilities include leading the shift, coordinating interdisciplinary care, evaluating staff performance, managing equipment and inventory, and supporting PI, customer service, and safety/quality initiatives. Requires current NBRC credentials and a minimum of two years of clinical experience in critical care settings, with education in Respiratory Therapy (AS or BS). Role emphasizes leadership in a hospital setting, patient care excellence, and ongoing staff development.
Required Qualifications
- NBRC credentials: ACCS, AE-C, NPS, RPFT (AE-C certifications prior to Sep 1, 2022 issued by NBEC)
- Associates in Respiratory Therapy or Bachelors in Respiratory Therapy (minimum education)
- BLS (any recognized provider)
- ACLS (including instructor if applicable)
- PALS (including instructor or provisional)
- NRP (including instructor or provisional) within 180 days
- NBRC-RRT certification or RCP/RRT credential
- Two years of clinical experience in critical care areas (Adult ICU, CVICU, BURN, NICU, ED)
- Possession of or ability to obtain state licensure as Respiratory Therapist
