Job Summary
Leads the daily management and supervision of the respiratory care staff in a hospital setting, performing clinical duties such as patient assessment, ventilator management, and diagnostic evaluation. Acts as an expert clinician and resource to the healthcare team, coordinates scheduling and daily priorities, administers therapies ordered by physicians, ensures accurate pulmonary function testing, educates patients about their illness and therapy, maintains supplies and equipment, and oversees department policies, training, and performance improvement. Requires leadership experience and advanced credentials in respiratory care, including RRT/RCP licensure, BLS/CPR, possibly NRP/ACLS/PALS as preferred, and NBRC registration or certification. Occasional participation in emergency resuscitation with appropriate certifications and adherence to hospital policies is expected.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
- NBRC-RRT or NBRC-CRT credential
- Registered or Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care
