Job Summary
Leads the daily management and supervision of the respiratory care staff, both clinically and administratively. Performs clinical duties including patient assessment, ventilator management, diagnostic evaluation and other respiratory care as needed. Acts as an expert clinician who demonstrates a high level of knowledge/expertise, and is a leader/resource to the healthcare team. Recommends/coordinates scheduling of work assignments and daily priorities of staff. Organizes department functions, administers therapies as ordered, ensures accurate pulmonary function testing, educates patients, maintains supplies and equipment, orients and trains staff, and oversees performance improvement and compliance with policies. Requires RRT/RCP credentials and CA licensure, with preferred graduate degrees and additional certifications in NICU/PICC/Peds, ACLS, PALS, NRP, PEARS, and NBRC credentials.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential and Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license: Required in CA
- CPR/BLS certification: Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification: Preferred
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification: Preferred
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification: Preferred
- Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certification: Preferred
- Registered or Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care: Required
- NBRC-RRT credential or NBRC-CRT credential: Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required
