Job Summary
Leads the daily management and supervision of the respiratory care staff, performs clinical duties including patient assessment and ventilator management, and conducts diagnostic evaluation. Acts as an expert clinician and leader/resource to the healthcare team, coordinating scheduling and daily priorities of staff. Organizes department functions, ensures supplies and equipment, and implements infection-control measures. Supports education and orientation of new staff and supervises complex activities. Requires RRT credential and CA license with BLS; NRP, ACLS, PALS, and PEARS certifications preferred; NBRC-RRT or NBRC-CRT credential required.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential and Respiratory Care Practitioner(RCP) license: Required in CA
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required
- NBRC-RRT credential or NBRC-CRT credential: Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required
- Organizes department functions and administers therapies as ordered by physician
- Demonstrates knowledge of respiratory therapy practices and equipment
- Orients and trains new staff
- Supervises substantially complex activities
