Job Summary
Lead and support the Re-Engagement Program as the primary resource for staff, managing a caseload of youth to provide individualized education and re-engagement planning. Build foundational relationships with youth, families, schools, and community partners while recruiting, enrolling, and onboarding participants into the program. Facilitate youth groups, family engagement events, and workshops, assisting students in developing life skills such as organization, time management, and self-advocacy. Track program data using SmartSheet to support compliance and evaluation, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and represent NARA NW in community outreach and meetings. Participate in staff development training including ASIST and QPR certification. Work directly with youth and families in the Portland metro area, including equine therapy activities and outdoor learning sites, requiring frequent local travel and a valid driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum one (1) year of experience working with youth in one or more of the following areas: social services, youth prevention, re-engagement programs, substance use treatment, education, behavioral health, or a related field
- Knowledge of educational systems, including traditional and alternative pathways to high school completion and graduation
- Experience building positive relationships with youth, families, schools, and community partners
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound judgment
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel frequently throughout the community
- Ability to pass a pre-employment and/or for-cause drug screening
- Ability to successfully pass criminal background and DMV checks
- Experience working within or serving Native American/Alaska Native communities
- Experience working in youth prevention, intervention, re-engagement, or school-based support programs
- Experience facilitating groups, workshops, family engagement activities, or youth development programs
- Knowledge of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based practices
- Software knowledge: SmartSheet, MS Office
- Athena and SMApply (SurveyMonkey Apply) for data collection
- Current certification, or ability to obtain, in ASIST, QPR, or other suicide prevention/intervention models
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field
