Job Summary
The Lead Protection & Control Engineer will work within a multi-discipline team to develop efficient and reliable electrical design packages for medium and high voltage substations. Responsibilities include coordinating design activities, providing construction support, maintaining project documentation, and mentoring developing engineers. The role requires a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, a minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical design, proficiency in AutoCAD, and knowledge of industry standards. A Professional Engineer (PE) registration is either required or candidates must be eligible for registration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in P&C electrical design for Senior Position
- A Professional Engineer (PE) registration (or eligible for registration)
- Ability to perform independently and in a team environment and provide project ownership
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with IEC61850/Goose Messaging
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Knowledge of applicable industry standards including the National Electric Code (NEC), National Electric Safety Code (NESC), and IEEE
- Knowledge of modern power system, power system protection and transmission & distribution system
- Prior utility or utility consulting experience is a plus
- Strong client focus
- High level of interpersonal communication skills, including a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills
