Job Summary
Lead the technical authority for new product development, organizing initial prototypes for evaluation and user testing. Align with the project manager and product owner on status, schedule, and deliverables while working in cross-functional teams to define, implement, and validate system requirements. Guide the team through design realization, mechanical design, electrical integration, and verification, ensuring clear ownership of key aspects and working with discipline heads to meet time scales. Support product launch and lifecycle management, then lead discussions with third-party suppliers and the manufacturer to qualify parts and achieve sample production runs. Liaise with the Hong Kong NPI team to prepare products for mass manufacture. This 9-month fixed-term role is based in the Cambridge office.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or HNC/HND educated
- Significant experience of working in a design and technology company or high-end electronic consumer products company
- Strong skills and experience with electronics based products
- An understanding of transferring complex products into manufacture
- Exceptional planning and organising skills working within exacting timescales
- Methodical approach with excellent attention to detail
- Communicates well to both technical and non-technical personnel across multiple disciplines and to management committee level
- Prepared to occasionally travel to China and EU
Desired Qualifications
- Strong experience with electronic control systems
- Experience of developing products used in high temperature applications
- Understanding of 1st principle physics
- Experience of consumer trialling of products throughout the development phases
