Job Summary
Manage the engineering portion of power system projects by preparing detailed technical specifications for large marine and naval systems, defining operation scenarios, and overseeing execution. Drive communications to align on schedule and technical risk while maintaining ownership of engineering artifacts including models, studies, drawings, bills of materials, and test procedures. Interface with customers, sourcing, purchasing, and manufacturing to ensure requirements are understood and components are fit for purpose. Manage design reviews and ensure projects complete within schedule and budget. Work with the project manager to achieve objectives while ensuring all designs implement safety, quality, and values.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or equivalent experience
- 5+ Years' experience in power systems, power electronics, power conversion, and/or naval power systems
- 5+ years working in a project environment
- Familiar with Power System Protection, Control, Monitoring Automation and integration in a Marine environment
- Familiar with Power Management Systems for Marine utilizing Switchboard and Generator Control systems for load sharing, synchronization, and power control
- Familiar with MATLAB/PLECS, ETAP, SKM, or other modeling tools
- Willingness to travel up to 30%
Desired Qualifications
- Professional Engineer or equivalent proven record of continuous professional development
- 5 years in a power systems design environment
- 5 years of experience in the naval, marine, or offshore industry
- Good understanding of regulatory requirements and marine classification requirements including ABS, CACG, and/or MIL Specs
