Job Summary
Lead design for growth initiatives across mobile, web, and physical products, managing the full lifecycle from creative conception to production. Define strategy and roadmap with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to achieve business objectives, while evaluating processes and implementing improvements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence product decisions and provide direction to other designers, ensuring high-quality execution within the Step Design System. Work on signup, onboarding, rewards, and gamification features to delight customers at scale.
Required Qualifications
- Significant demonstrated experience with end-to-end (hybrid UX and UI) product design for consumer-facing products
- Strong visual design sensibility with the range to move fluidly between systemized UI and more expressive, brand-forward moments
- A craft-obsessed designer who strives for quality and has an amazing attention to detail
- The ability to lead design for important projects with experience delegating work and giving direction to other designers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (you should be able to clearly articulate your design decisions and the logic behind them)
- The ability to think at a high level about product strategy and vision (not just 'how it should look' but 'what we should build')
- Experience in building and shipping applications or software (mobile/web)
- Uses AI as a creative and productivity multiplier — able to move faster and explore more ideas without sacrificing craft or judgment
- Must have a portfolio featuring examples of design work
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
